Connectivism Comment

Group D’s wikipage on Connectivism succinctly describes the essense of the theory. I like how they noted that the internalized type of learning model no longer works in today’s world because there is too much content and it is always changing. That’s precisely why using the Internet can be so frustrating! I also liked how they pointed out that it is more a learning strategy. And I especially liked that they used the same video of the “Networked Student” as my group did!

  1. I am glad that you liked our description of connectivism, Valerie! The amount of content not only necessitates a model that is not reliant on internalized learning, but it also necessitates a focus on a set of skills to deal with the volume of content. These are skills such as the ability to evaluate, summarize, and skim.

  2. I love your focus on how we have to keep up with how information changes so fast. We need to educate through discovery and collaboration, not through memorization!

  3. I think people may be missing the point. A learning model addresses how we internalize knowledge, it doesn't deal with how we access the knowledge. Yes, information does change quickly and we need to learn ways of accessing the new information. But to use the information it needs to be internalized. Just my two cents.
